Partizanskaya.
I haven’t brought you to a Moscow metro station for Photo Friday since November with Baumanskaya, and I thought that the first one of the year ought to be another I’m really in Russia type of station, so Partizanskaya it is.
Partizanskaya gives you that vibe because of Russia’s military pride and their victory over the Nazis in 1945. Russians say that they won the war because they captured Berlin; let’s just say that it won’t be a very pleasant conversation if you mention that other countries played a role in defeating the Nazis.
However, this station was actually called Izmailovsky Park until 2005; it was changed to Partizanskaya for the 60th anniversary of the Nazi defeat. The name also suits the station’s theme, and it was opened while the war was still raging in 1944.

The view when you walk into the station. I was surprised to see flowers at the base of the partisans statue.
I was surprised when I first saw Partizanskaya because unlike any other Moscow metro station I’ve seen, it has three tracks with two platforms. ↓

The view from the statue in the previous shot.

On the right platform.

The top of each column honours partisans.
How do you like this one compared to other stations?
